    Mineral Insulated (MI) cables are high-performance cables designed for extreme environmental conditions. They consist of metal conductors embedded in compressed mineral insulation material (usually magnesium oxide, MgO) and are encased in a metal sheath. MI cables are used in applications requiring high-temperature resistance, fireproofing, or corrosion resistance.

    MI cable structure
    • Metal Conductors: Copper, stainless steel, Inconel, or other alloys
    • Insulation: Magnesium oxide (MgO) is the most common insulating material
    • Metal Sheath: Provides mechanical protection and shields the internal conductors

    Features
    • High temperature resistance: Can withstand temperatures up to 1,000°C (1,832°F) or higher, depending on the materials used
    • Fire resistance: MI cables maintain functionality during and after exposure to fire, making them ideal for critical systems such as emergency circuits
